About This Open Box Victron Phoenix Inverter
Open box, started for use in a van but went for a larger inverter. That's the whole story — the build plan changed and this inverter came back to the shelf.
Victron Phoenix Inverter 12/1200 Specs
These numbers come from Victron's VE.Direct inverter datasheet for the 12/1200 model:
- 12 volt battery input, 9.2 to 17V range
- Rated 1200VA continuous
- 1000W continuous at 25°C, 850W at 40°C
- 2200W peak power
- Up to 91% efficiency
- Zero-load draw about 10W, or about 1W in ECO mode
- Low battery shutdown at 9.3V, restart at 10.9V (both adjustable)
Victron builds this inverter in 120VAC and 230VAC versions. Ask us which output and outlet type this open box unit has before you buy.
Setup and Features
The Victron Phoenix inverter has a VE.Direct port. Connect a computer with a VE.Direct to USB cable, or a phone with the VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle. From there you can set low battery alarms, cut-off levels, output voltage and ECO mode.
ECO mode puts the inverter on standby when the load drops below a set level. That helps save battery in a van overnight. A remote on/off switch wires to a two-pole connector. DC wiring uses screw terminals, so no special tools are needed.
The inverter is short circuit proof. It also protects itself against overload and overheating. It runs from -40 to +65°C with fan cooling, and output derates above 40°C. To switch loads between this inverter and another AC source, Victron recommends its Filax automatic transfer switch.
