Behind the Scenes: A Walkthrough of the AVC Rigs Booth at Adventure Van Expo!
Hey everyone, Matt here for AVC and welcome back to AVC Chronicles!
Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to showcase our latest innovations and build expertise at the Adventure Van Expo in Evergreen, Colorado – our home show! This was more than just an event; it was a chance to connect with the vibrant van life community, share our passion, and give you an up-close look at what we've been working on.
Our booth was packed with exciting features, from our nearly-complete 2025 show vehicle (the one you've been watching us build!) to a comprehensive display of our DIY products. We even brought an empty extended Transit van, allowing visitors to see many of our DIY products installed in a real-world application.
Let's dive in and take a virtual tour of our booth!
The Star of the Show: Our 2025 Show Vehicle
Front and center, we proudly displayed our 2025 show vehicle, almost completely finished, with just a couple more videos coming your way before its grand reveal. This van represents the culmination of our design philosophy and build quality.
Inside, visitors explored:
-
Front Hangout Space: With swiveled captain's chairs and a dedicated dog bed spot (perfect for Jillie!), showcasing a comfortable and social front living area.
-
Aluminum Cabinet Kitchenette: Our signature aluminum cabinetry featured an induction cooktop, sink, faucet, fridge, and a cleverly organized silverware drawer.
-
Water System Innovations: Including our separate filtered drinking water faucet and the regular tap for dishwashing, demonstrating smart water management.
-
Under-Sink Organization: A MOLLE panel with cleaning supplies, a toothbrush kit, and space for a porta-potty (removed for the show to better display storage).
-
Bedroom & Storage: A queen-size east-west bed (comfortably fitting a 5'10" person!) in our custom pocket sleepers. Overhead cabinets provided ample interior storage, complemented by easy-to-access hanging bags for clothes and personal items.
-
The Cloud Cap: Our roof-top tent, the Xped Extra Large (55" wide x 80" long), offering comfortable sleeping for two adults and definitely enough room for both kids!
Showcasing Our Tailored Aluminum Cabinet Program
Beyond the completed van, we highlighted the versatility of our Tailored Aluminum Cabinet Program. We had four example cabinets on display:
-
An adjustable-size bench
-
A pull-out pantry
-
Our fridge and cooktop section
-
And a sink section
Unlike a fully integrated kitchen, these modular pieces demonstrate how you can create a custom layout, with our example showing a 52-inch kitchen. The best part? These cabinets can be made to any size you need and are available in an astounding 216 colors to match any aesthetic!
DIY Products: Build Your Own Adventure
Under the tent, we had a dedicated area for our popular DIY products, allowing home builders to see and touch the components that can elevate their own van projects:
-
Step-And-Trim
-
Lagun Table Mounts
-
Undermount Water Pump
-
Cab Locker
-
Solar Fittings
-
Our innovative Fountain of Use (portable sink cabinet that can be lifted out for outdoor dishwashing!)
-
Infrastructure Products: Our aluminum furring kit for easy wall installation, a display of our felt wall kit with color samples, and our pre-cut tubbed flooring.
The "Empty" Extended Transit: A DIY Blueprint
To provide a real-world demonstration, we brought an empty extended Transit van. This allowed us to showcase how our DIY products integrate into a build from the ground up:
-
Wall Kits: With foam and wood, showing the initial stages of insulation and framing.
-
Felt Sample Walls: Allowing visitors to feel the material and see color options.
-
Wall-to-Ceiling Supports and Skeleton Framing Kit: Demonstrating the structural foundation.
-
Pre-Cut Tubbed Flooring: Dropped right in (though we'd glue it for a permanent install!), showcasing its perfect fit.
-
Flooring Options: Samples of our synthetic flooring and 2-Tech-2 flooring.
-
Aluminum Framing Kit: Supporting our extended walls in the rear.
-
Wiring Crossover: How we efficiently run wiring over the top of the van.
-
Innie-Pocket Sleepers: Highlighting how you can achieve 75 inches of sleeping width without needing to cut into the van for bulky fiberglass bumpouts.
